Omnivore shares feature delicious grass-fed, organic meat from Old Pine Farm.  This high-quality meat pairs perfectly with the vegetables from the Community Farm for your dining pleasure.  Like the vegetarian shares, meat shares will get many creative vegetable sides and lush salads to combine with the flavorful beef, pork, lamb, and chicken dishes.  You can look forward to the flavors of the seasons, ranging from springtime Quiche Lorraine to Chicken Cacciatore to Acorn squash with Apple-Sausage Stuffing.   Soups are enriched with our homemade stock so everything is bursting with flavor that only the freshest food can bring.

Quantities

Well, this is the hardest question we get asked.  Every month, each share gets 16-20 lbs of meat from Old Pine Farm, which we will divide and cook part of every week, paired suitably with the vegetables from the Community Farm. Basically, the amount of food you get every week will vary through the season.

In June, the Farm season is just getting going and you’ll have no trouble eating your whole share in a week.  By the beginning of August we’ll be swimming in veggies which will make your meat share go further. How many meals you get per week depends a lot on your eating habits and patterns.  We estimate that a whole share should be suitable for a small family and a half share would be ideal for a couple. See sample menus below for more details:

Sample Menu

Since we’ve never offered omnivore shares in the summer before, we don’t have the same detailed menu info that we have for the vegetarian shares.

Every week’s menu will include around 5 lbs of meat cooked into nutritious and tasty main dishes along with generous vegetarian side dishes such as salads, soups, condiments, greens, and more. The omnivore share will pair meat with vegetables for a healthy balance.
