Hi everyone!
It’s been another busy week here at Harvest Kitchen. I hope you’ve all heard about our Build Your Own Season special offer (that’s a link: click it!)–now is the perfect time to try Harvest Kitchen for a month or two. Tell your friends! Being a subscriber is a great way to ensure you get the full variety of Harvest Kitchen’s complete menu each week.
In other news, those who have been following along will have seen that we didn’t manage to get the spinach salad last week! I’d ordered a bunch of spinach from Farmer Megan at Hand Sown Farm, and at the last minute she told me it’d gone bad, and she couldn’t harvest it for me because it had a disease! We were so disappointed, but were able to substitute kale and cabbage slaw. This week we’re giving the spinach salad another try and hopefully we won’t be disappointed. I guess there’s more to hoop house farming than it might seem from the outside–good thing our farmers are so adept that these kinds of crop failures are rare, but it’s easy to imagine how a plant disease might do well in the warm, damp hoop house environment.
Coming up this week: Depot Town Chili Cookoff! (that’s also a link). We’re in it to win it, so come on down to Depot Town this Sunday and sample chili and vote for us!
