Can you believe this weather in February? It’s been balmy and beautiful this week, which is nice, but very uncanny. What’s winter without snow days and sledding? Somehow the cold, snowy days always seem to be Saturdays when I (or Melanie) have to stand outside at Farmer’s Market for hours. Perhaps wintry weather is just around the corner…
Another good week at Harvest Kitchen. We’re settling into a good routine for our winter season, and our current staff is a very experienced crew–in fact, this week our chef Kim has been on vacation. I was a little nervous about trying to do all my admin work AND supervise the cooking shifts, but with such an experienced staff, and lots of advance prep from Kim, and of
course the management help of Melanie and Dayna, I feel like I don’t have to do a lot of extra work at all–everyone is self-motivated and things are flowing like a well-oiled machine. I have no doubt you won’t notice a difference in the quality of the cooking with Kim away!
The most exciting news in the farm department is that
I’ve been able to score some sweet potatoes from our friends at Green Things Farm. I’d given up hope that anyone was storing these summer delicacies, but fortunately for this week’s menu, Farmers Jill and Nate at Green Things have a stash and are willing to share. So, stand by, because HK’s popular Potato Flower Gratin is back on the menu!
Speaking of which, here’s this week’s menu:
